Utility Skills

Heal Willbender is a build that is capable of providing Alacrity to the party. The build offers supreme mobility and good crowd control potential, but it doesn’t have boon overload packed into its kit like many other healers like Heal Firebrand. This makes it an unpopular pick for most groups, but you can still be a competent healer if you choose to play it.

Build Fundamentals

The ability to offload utility skills effects like healing or providing a specific boon to chosen weapon and vice versa makes Healbender an extremely versatile build, but on the other hand, the lack of boon overload might require often utility and weapons swapping to help upkeep specific boons, picking more crowd control or defensive abilities.

A good “feel” of the group and knowledge of the encounter is required to effectively modify it for certain situations.

Boon generation

In order to maximize Healbender’s effectiveness, you are required to actively use all your Virtues while ending with Flowing Resolve and under its effect landing as many hits as you can to generate enough Alacrity. Because every 5th attack while affected by Flowing Resolve will generate Alacrity, you are forced to use your fastest ticking skills to fully benefit from it.

While generating Alacrity that way, make sure to not waste Purging Flames if you might have conditions to cleanse soon. Purging Flames with your Symbols and Auto-attack chain will be the main hitter for triggering Flowing Resolve.

Other boons you provide will strongly depend on the weapon you will pick.

Staff will be your main weapon, and while Empower can provide a good amount of Might, you won’t be able to upkeep 25 stacks with only this.

You have to fill the gap with Scepter’s Symbol of Punishment, which is also 8-tick AoE further increasing your Alacrity generation. Added bonus of the scepter is pretty fast auto-attacks.

You will also generate Might from your critical attacks with Empowering Might, which is another reason you should land as many attacks as you can.

If Might is partially covered, you can give permanent Fury with "Feel My Wrath!" and Symbol of Blades.

If you choose a more defensive option, you can generate permanent Protection with Mace’s Protector's Strike and/or "Hold the Line!".

You have good access to Stability with "Stand Your Ground!", Crashing Courage, and Hallowed Ground if your group will need it.

The bulk of your healing will come from Regeneration you’ll generate with Flowing Resolve and ticks from your symbols you’ll be constantly dropping. On top of that, every time you Dodge, you’ll heal with Selfless Daring.

Healing skills you shouldn’t swap (unless you are in a not very pressuring fight) will be very potent AoE Bow of Truth and your healing skill "Receive the Light!" which heals in a cone in front of you.

You’ll also be topping players off constantly with your main Might generating skill Empower.

All that should be absolutely enough to outheal damage in most scenarios, but in really demanding fights, you can run Mace that has very strong heal at the end of Auto-attack chain: Faithful Strike, as well as more damage mitigation from Protector's Strike, and Regeneration from Symbol of Faith.

Damage mitigation

You won’t be able to provide permanent Protection without a Mace, you can generate the bulk of it with Shield of Judgment and Crashing Courage, but since both those skills also give Aegis, it’ll be better to time them to avoid high damage attacks.

Healbender can be very spammy with Aegis if you run Mace and "Advance!". If you will decide to swap to Mace, remember to take Invigorated Bulwark to shorten its cooldowns and add some more healing to your kit. Aegis will come from Protector's Strike and Shield of Judgment weapon skills, Crashing Courage Virtue, and "Advance!" utility.

If you struggle with ranged attacks, you can take  Sanctuary and Wall of Reflection to complement Shield of Absorption and Sword’s Zealot's Defense which will allow you to block very often.

Since you’ll be providing insane amounts of Resolution with all your Virtues, you will be a very good pick for condition-heavy fights, because with Purging Flames, Blast finisher from Holy Strike into Light field from Line of Warding or Symbol of Swiftness and constant spam of Flowing Resolve (3 conditions cleansed on very low cooldown due to Absolute Resolve).

Crowd Control

Use any of the main-hand weapons that will fit your current need, but remember that dropping a Scepter will severely cripple your Might generation:
