Condition Specter

Condition Specter is a DPS build that offers high survivability and solid DPS from mid-range via large amounts of Torment and Poisoned. It can provide a lot of barrier and crowd control without sacrificing anything from its base kit. The main idea while playing thief, is to never fill initiative, you will be using your strongest skill, Twilight Combo as much as possible to deplete initiative. Condition Specter does its damage in two ways: weapon skills while not in Shadow Shroud and non-initiative spending skills while in Shadow Shroud. While using your scepter/dagger weapon set, you will want to prioritize using Twilight Combo as your main source of damage. If you can’t cast it due to not having enough initiative, you can fill with your scepter Auto-attack chain/Shadowsquall and Siphon off-cooldown. Make sure to use Prepare Thousand Needles, Spider Venom, and…

Heal Vindicator

Heal Vindicator is a solid healer choice for more experienced players, it can provide a range of useful boons as well as strong boon extension. The build can generate 25 Might, permanent Alacrity, Regeneration, Protection and high uptime on Resistance for the party. In addition to this, you will also be able to provide a high amount of Vigor to the entire squad thanks to Invoking Harmony. The build also has good crowd control capabilities thanks to Surge of the Mists and access to Assassin's Presence which is a solid boost to all power DPS players in the party. The unique focus on boon extension stems from the trait Vassals of the Empire which will extend all boons in your party by 2 seconds every time you dodge. You can expect to dodge at least 4 times every 20s, which means…

Power Banner Bladesworn

Power Banner Bladesworn gains the Unsheathe Gunsaber and Dragon Trigger for the loss of weapon swapping in combat. Similar to other Banner Warrior builds it offers strong group support through Banner of Strength and Banner of Discipline. Instead of adrenaline, Bladesworn uses Flow.  You gain Flow by being in combat thanks to the trait Gun X Sword, hitting enemies with Unseen Sword and using "To the Limit!" and Signet of Rage if you’re not using Tactical Reload. When in Dragon Trigger your flow gets converted into charges to prepare the use of a Dragon Slash, you require a minimum amount of 53 Flow to be able to get a 10 charge Dragon Slash - Force which is what we are aiming for every time. Fierce as Fire is a significant damage-boosting trait, always try keeping this at 10 stacks. Stacks are…

Mercy Deadeye

Power Deadeye is a strong roamer that takes advantage of Binding Shadow and Be Quick or Be Killed to lock down and eliminate targets quickly. Deadeye benefits from the baked in mobility of any thief spec, however is is vulnerable to focus and gets countered by projectile block from builds like Tempest or Harbinger . As a roamer, Deadeye focuses on moving around the map and quickly getting kills. In order to do this, you need to lock down and eliminate your target as quickly as possible. Deadeye relies on a mechanic called malice to do damage. Whenever you mark a target, hitting them with an ability will generate stacks of malice. At maximum malice, your stolen skills will give you stealth and Death's Judgment will do 75% more damage. Try to build malice as quickly as possible after marking…

Power Alacrity Mechanist

A very simple build offering very good power damage while providing permanent Alacrity and 25 Might. Playing Alacrity Mechanist is pretty straightforward as you will be applying Alacrity when you apply barrier thanks to Mech Frame: Channeling Conduits, making your Auto-attack chain almost enough to sustain permanent Alacrity. During fights, try to always finish Mace Auto-attack chain for barrier and Alacrity application and keep generating your boons, use Mech command Crisis Zone off cooldown to ensure 100% Alacrity uptime. Keep in mind your Mech skills can be interrupted by querying different skills. For example, it’s very easy to interrupt a long, channeled cast of Barrier Burst with any of the other Mech skills or Rocket Fist Prototype if you are not aware it will trigger Rocket Punch due to Mech Fighter interaction. Might will be applied through your and your…

Power Boon Daredevil

Power Boon Daredevil is a very similar build to pure Power Daredevil and plays the same when it comes to damage dealing. The main difference is the usage of Detonate Plasma stolen skill, which you acquire by using Swipe. All that is topped off with amazing CC via Basilisk Venom and Fist Flurry. Power Daredevil Dps Select difficulty Staff Pistol & Pistol Deadly Arts Critical Strikes Daredevil This build should only be used on bosses such as Matthias Gabrel, Mursaat Overseer, Statues of Grenth, and Cardinal Adina, where you can steal Detonate Plasma from the boss. High boon duration items will allow you to provide permanent Quickness uptime, high Resistance uptime, Stability stacks, Aegis spam, and maintain 25 stacks of Might with help of pre-stealing. Other boons provided by Detonate Plasma and your traits, like Protection,  Resolution,  Regeneration,  Swiftness,  Fury,…

Heal Willbender

Heal Willbender is a build that is capable of providing Alacrity to the party. The build offers supreme mobility and good crowd control potential, but it doesn’t have boon overload packed into its kit like many other healers like Heal Firebrand. This makes it an unpopular pick for most groups, but you can still be a competent healer if you choose to play it. The ability to offload utility skills effects like healing or providing a specific boon to chosen weapon and vice versa makes Healbender an extremely versatile build, but on the other hand, the lack of boon overload might require often utility and weapons swapping to help upkeep specific boons, picking more crowd control or defensive abilities. A good “feel” of the group and knowledge of the encounter is required to effectively modify it for certain situations. In…

Condition Banner Berserker

This build provides high personal DPS, some CC, and unique buffs for your squad in form of Banner of Strength and Banner of Discipline. The main things to keep in mind are using Rage skills to increase the uptime of your Berserk and making use of reduced Weapon Swap cooldown from Fast Hands to benefit from Versatile Rage. For learning purposes, rotation can be broken down into a few main elements: Flames of War, Blaze Breaker, Pin Down and Shattering Blow are used off cooldown. Use Fan of Fire and Scorched Earth twice during each longbow part of your rotation, use Scorched Earth 3 times if you have Blood Reckoning available. Use Fan of Fire as the first and last skill in the longbow part of your rotation to maintain Furious. During the sword part of your rotation use Blaze Breaker, Flames of…

Power Banner Berserker

Power Berserker is one of the easier builds to pick up. It provides group support in form of CC and Banner of Strength & Banner of Discipline. Keep in mind you will often be picked to do mechanics, as your DPS will be lower than dedicated DPS players. Another factor in sending you to do mechanics is your access to CC. The goal of your rotation is to use Decapitate during Berserk as many times as possible. To generate enough Adrenaline for the next Decapitate you need to hit your target 3 times. To achieve this you can use a following combinations: Cyclone Axe -> Throw Axe Cyclone Axe -> Chop Dual Strike -> Throw Axe Dual Strike -> Chop Chop -> Double Chop The cooldown on all your Banner skills is reduced by 60 seconds when you pick them up. This allows you to…

Condition Boon Daredevil

Condition Boon Daredevil plays similarly to Condition Daredevil damage-wise, build owes its existence purely to the usage of Detonate Plasma stolen skill, which you acquire by using Swipe. While there are more places where Detonate Plasma exists, this build should only be used on bosses such as Matthias Gabrel, Mursaat Overseer, Statues of Grenth, Cardinal Adina, and in some cases on Twin Largos, where you can steal plasma only from Kenut. The primary reason why you run so much boon duration is an ability to provide permanent Quickness uptime, high Resistance uptime, Stability stacks, Aegis spam, and maintain 25 stacks of Might with help of pre-stealing. Other boons provided by Detonate Plasma, like Protection,  Resolution,  Regeneration,  Swiftness,  Fury,  Vigor have much higher uptime and you’ll be able to keep them up permanently even with much lower boon duration. The ramp-up…

Heal Quickness Scrapper

Heal Quickness Scrapper has very good healing and strong CC. It can also provide Superspeed, Quickness, Protection, partially cover Might, Swiftness, Vigor and some other useful utilities with Function Gyro. Your two primary goals will be maintaining Quickness, which is done mostly using your skills off cooldown and healing your party. Due to Kinetic Accelerators, every time you apply Superspeed you also apply Quickness. As a number of your skills apply Superspeed you can upkeep permanent Quickness using the following skills: Shredder Gyro Blast Gyro (also applies Might) Bypass Coating Bandage Self Which combination of these skills you use are encounter and situation dependent. For example, Bandage Self is a strong group heal, thanks to Medical Dispersion Field. Using this off of cooldown in an encounter with low healing pressure may be fine, but in encounters where you need to…

Condition Alacrity Renegade

Condition Alacrity Renegade is a long-standing popular build that can provide permanent Alacrity to the party while also having high condi DPS and good crowd control abilities. The build is also capable of providing some Might to the party in expense of some DPS utilising Heroic Command and the blast finishers from Echoing Eruption on top of the fire field from Searing Fissure. The build also has access to important utility skills such as Breakrazor's Bastion for some group heals and Banish Enchantment for boon removal. The build can be seen as the condition foil to Power Alacrity Renegade. While this build is capable of doing higher DPS, Power Alacrity Renegade can be seen as the stronger variant when it comes to group support due to the immense CC it can bring to the table while also suffering less DPS…

Boon Heal Tempest

Boon Heal Tempest can provide high amounts of healing to the subgroup in addition to permanent 25 stacks of Might, Fury, Protection, Regeneration, Vigor and Swiftness. It also has access to boon extension thanks to Sand Squall, lots of condition cleanse and other utilities such as projectile reflection and ability to counter one-shot attacks with "Rebound!". Heal Boon Tempest can also slightly boost the damage of the party with Static Charge from Overload Air. You want to cycle between all your attunements to provide specific boons and utility from each one: Might from Fire Attunement Regeneration and Soothing Mist from Water Attunement Swiftness and Static Charge from Air Attunement Protection, Boon Extension and Projectile Reflects from Earth Attunement Your main sources of sustained healing are Regeneration and Soothing Mist. In addition to this, you can constantly provide heals due to…

Heal Tempest

Heal Tempest can provide extremely good healing and can revive downed allies from very far away. However, compared to Boon Heal Tempest, it has access to limited boon generation and less overall utility such as crowd control effects. This makes the build an unpopular choice in more advanced groups. Due to the extreme simplification of the class to effectively only one attunement, it’s a good introductory build for players wanting to learn an encounter or learning support roles. Due to more limited access to boons and less overall utility from weapon skills, this build focuses on strong healing output together with a focus on resurrecting allies from afar. Because of this, you should stay in Water Attunement as much as possible to maintain high healing output. Use Healing Rain to provide permanent Regeneration together with condi cleanse and Geyser to…

Power Quickness Chronomancer

Power Quickness Chronomancer is a boon support build capable of providing permanent Quickness to the party while also providing solid power DPS. This build can provide excellent CC on demand while having access to powerful core mesmer utility such as Portal Entre, Feedback, and Temporal Curtain. Optimized variant of this build will offer the highest possible DPS with the downside of having to flank the target due to Rune of the Thief. Universal variant sacrifices a small amount of DPS by swapping to Rune of the Eagle eliminating the need to flank the target and makes it easy to swap your gear if you’d like to use the following build: Tank Chronomancer1255 Toughness Tank Select difficulty Sword & Sword Shield offhand Domination Dueling Chronomancer Seize the Moment allows you to provide Quickness by using your shatter skills. This means your…

Tower Mesmer

Tower Mesmer build was created specifically for the Wing 3 Escort raid encounter and has no use outside of it. Escort Select difficulty An event where players escort NPC Glenna, capturing towers and avoiding one-shot mechanics. This encounter only requires Forsaken Thicket Waters and Ley-Line Gliding, but benefits from Mesmer Portal and group stability and immobs. Your main (and only role) will be capping towers during the escort. You will find a detailed description of your role in the boss encounter guide, with highlights here. You can either solo cap the towers, or port the group up for a quick cap, but we encourage you at least try to solo! This build is extremely forgiving by being extremely tanky and having stability on each shatter skill, so if you fail to solo you will still be able to portal your…

Tank Firebrand

Tank Firebrand can be seen as a variant of Heal Firebrand which focuses more on self-sustain and tanking capabilities by swapping the Virtues traitline with Valor. Other than tanking the build can provide permanent Quickness, Swiftness, high uptime on Fury, and <25 stacks of Might to the party. It has access to lots of Stability and Aegis. Stand behind and face your allies when using your Mantra of Solace, Mantra of Potence, and Shield of Judgment as those skills affect targets in the cone where you are facing. All your Mantra skills are instant cast so you can use them during the casting of other skills like Empower or Shield of Absorption. For Quickness use Mantra of Solace, Mantra of Potence and "Feel My Wrath!" . There is no need to spam your Mantra of Solace as it only applies Quickness once every…

Condition DPS Mechanist

This build offers high condition dps with a lot of confusion stacks while being very easy to pick up. A downside of it is the lack of CC. The 3-kit variant uses more kits making the rotation more difficult but giving you more crowd control options and a bit higher dps. Low intensity variant uses no kits this leads to a slight damage loss but if you are just getting started with mech this is a great choice to get comfortable with mace and controlling your mech. Mech Core: J-Drive is the defining trait of 1-Kit Mechanist as it allows you to gain the benefits of the signets while they are on cooldown, meaning you can use your signets as a dps increase and make your Mech useful with boons shared via Shift Signet. The rotation is very simple, and…

Power Quickness Scrapper

Power Quickness Scrapper (aka “Qrapper”) is not only a great source of Quickness and DPS, but it provides multitudes of utility and CC with skills such as Elite Mortar Kit, Thunderclap, Medic Gyro, and more. In addition, due to the trait Impact Savant, as long as you are doing damage to something you will almost NEVER die! Power Quickness Scrapper generates quickness for your subgroup via Superspeed and Kinetic Accelerators combined with Gyroscopic Acceleration. Your main sources of Superspeed generation for quickness are Medic Gyro, Shredder Gyro, Blast Gyro, Bypass Coating, and Function Gyro which you want to use off-cooldown when possible. Make sure to be in combat before Blast Gyro and Medic Gyro finish casting when starting an encounter. If you generate quickness/superspeed on your allies using these skills before entering combat, those boons will be removed! While using your…

Tank Chronomancer

Tank Chronomancer (1255 Toughness) has access to decent power DPS while upkeeping Quickness for the party. Having 1255 Toughness as a baseline represents a sufficient value for tanking in most situations even when the squad would include a Power Catalyst or a Handkite Soulbeast with 1200 Toughness. This build, in general, plays very similarly to Power Quickness Chronomancer. The tanking capabilities mostly stem from Echo of Memory and being able to reset it Signet of the Ether when needed. Tides of Time can be utilized to provide a small amount of [effectquickness] and Alacrity to the entire squad which will help solidify the uptime of these crucial boons. As tank, you are responsible for positioning the boss correctly. This means positioning so your squad can avoid dying while maximizing DPS on the boss. Find a safe spot to tank the…
