Lonely Tower
Introduction
Lonely Tower takes place within Isgarren’s Tower, where you assist Isgarren and Mabon in combating a demonic invasion. The fractal involves puzzle-solving and two main boss encounters: Cerus & Deimos, and Eparch. Success in this fractal hinges on effectively purifying Astral Purifiers, managing boss mechanics, and utilizing skills like
Purifying the Astral Purifiers
The First Corridor
After exiting the starting area, proceed to the right through a hallway filled with Despair Globule AoEs that inflict
Astral Purifier Puzzles
You will encounter Astral Purifier Nodes that require you to complete a button-matching minigame. During this time, Avatars of Spite will spawn and attempt to reach the purifiers, potentially interrupting the purification process by exploding upon contact.
- Stability Approach: Use
to prevent interruption from the Avatars of Spite explosions. - Stealth Approach: Use
to bypass Avatars, allowing uninterrupted purification.
Alternatively, your party can focus on quickly eliminating the Avatars before they reach the purifiers, enabling you to purify multiple nodes simultaneously with careful timing.
Once all nodes are purified, the Despair Globule AoEs in the hallway will disappear, allowing you to return to the starting area. Head down the newly opened left path for another purifier challenge, which now includes the added hazard of Grasping Hands that slow your movement.
Cerus and Deimos Boss Fight
Fixation Mechanic
The closest player to each boss receives fixation, meaning Cerus and Deimos should be kept apart to avoid the
Deimos Mechanics
- Black Oil: Deimos spawns black oil patches, which expand if stepped in. Avoid these areas to prevent spreading oil across the arena.
- Hands: Hands spawn underneath the furthest player. These should be kited away from the group to avoid cluttering the battlefield.
- Smash: Deimos performs a large AoE smash attack that knocks back players. Dodge out of its range to avoid being hit.
Cerus Mechanics
- Malice Shadow: Cerus spawns a shadow clone of a player that runs toward him. Kill the shadow before it reaches Cerus to prevent him from gaining empowered stacks.
- Cry of Rage: Cerus channels a large AoE that deals heavy damage. Dodge or block this attack to minimize damage.
- Orbs: Damaging orbs appear above each player. Drop them away from the group to keep the arena clear.
Eparch Encounter
The Eparch encounter revolves around managing emotion orbs that spawn from his attacks. These orbs can provide buffs to players or empower Eparch, so managing them effectively is crucial.
Orbs and Their Effects
Eparch’s attacks spawn various globules, each with distinct effects on players and Eparch himself. Collecting these orbs is essential to control the fight’s pacing and prevent Eparch from gaining powerful buffs.
- Rage Globule (Red): Increases your outgoing damage but also increases damage taken. If Eparch collects it, his damage increases.
- Despair Globule (Blue): Reduces your incoming damage but also decreases your damage output. Eparch receiving this reduces the damage he takes.
- Envy Globule (Green): Enhances your condition damage and boon duration. If Eparch collects it, he corrupts boons.
- Malice Globule (Purple): Increases crowd control effectiveness but applies additional conditions. Eparch receiving this inflicts extra conditions with his attacks.
- Gluttony Globule (Orange): Heals you over time but also inflicts periodic damage. Eparch consuming this restores his health.
Key Mechanics and Attack Patterns
Eparch’s attacks dictate the flow of the fight. Managing the globules while dealing with his attacks is critical to victory:
- Spiral AoE: Eparch creates spiraling AoEs that spawn Despair Globules. These orbs reduce incoming damage but also decrease your outgoing damage. Avoid standing in the spiral pattern while collecting blue globules to minimize damage.
Stay mobile during the Spiral AoE attack to avoid the damage zones and collect globules effectively
- Fire Shockwave Slam: Eparch slams the ground, sending out shockwaves that create Rage Globules. Rage globules increase your damage output but make you more vulnerable. Dodge the shockwave and decide when to collect red globules to maximize damage output without overexposing yourself.
Avoid the Fire Shockwave Slam by dodging or moving out of its path.
- Arrow Wave: Eparch fires arrows in four directions, spawning Envy Globules. These orbs enhance condition damage but can corrupt boons if left for Eparch to consume. Position between the arrows and collect green globules quickly to prevent Eparch from corrupting your boons.Position yourself to avoid Arrow Wave attacks while collecting green globules.
- Spin Pull: Eparch pulls players toward him while dealing damage over time. This attack spawns Gluttony Globules, which heal the player but apply a periodic damage effect. Use mobility to escape the pull and balance collecting orange globules for healing while managing the periodic damage.
Avoid getting pulled by Spin Pull while managing your health and damage.
- Shard AoE: Eparch stabs the ground, spawning Malice Globules and creating small AoEs under players. Malice globules increase the effectiveness of crowd control on the boss but apply additional conditions to the player. Stay mobile to dodge the AoEs while preparing to use purple globules for enhanced crowd control.
Keep moving to avoid Shard AoE attacks while managing crowd control globules.
Break Bar Phases
Every seven attack patterns, Eparch will enter a break bar phase. During this phase, he gains a permanent barrier and consumes all available globules. Breaking his defiance bar will remove stacks of his empowered states, reducing his effectiveness. Collecting orbs before this phase is critical to prevent him from becoming too powerful.
