Power Scrapper is an incredibly strong open-world Engineer build. It has high burst damage with 100% Crit Chance and great crowd control. You gain Barrier by attacking and give yourself almost permanent Quickness, Fury, almost 25 Might, and Superspeed!

This builds is based on Instanced PvE version providing group Quickness, but covers a few additional alternatives that might come in handy in Open World.

    Build Fundamentals

    Damage

Most of your damage comes from Electro-whirl, Thunderclap, Grenade Barrage, and Shredder Gyro. Use these skills off cooldown.

Modified Ammunition allows you to deal more damage for each condition on a foe. That means using Shrapnel Grenade, Poison Grenade, and Freeze Grenade increases your damage to enemies, so use those off cooldown. Grenade Kit itself is also a good ranged option if you need some breathing room.

You have access to almost all key boons in the game, almost permanent Quickness for yourself (and the bulk of it for your group), Superior Rune of the Pack and Superior Sigil of Strength will supplement your self Might and Fury.

Your Auto-attack chain will provide you with some Might, but it’s also one of many other Vulnerability sources. Thunderclap itself applies Vulnerability, but Whirl finishers like Electro-whirl and Shredder Gyro used inside the Lightning field from it (or from Spare Capacitor) will apply even more with Brutal Bolts.

    Utility

You can provide permanent Superspeed and thus Quickness via Kinetic Accelerators allowing you to speed up some events and quests (When escorting NPCs Superspeed will prioritize allies, so make sure no more than three allied players are around the NPC requiringSuperspeed).

All your Gyros will apply Superspeed around you once they expire (Medic Gyro will also give Superspeed upon casting), most of your toolbelt skills, including Function Gyro, will grant area Superspeed or self-Superspeed. That makes you not only very mobile, but it also means you have countless skills giving you Quickness with Kinetic Accelerators.

You might want to space out the usage of those skills a little if you want to maximize your movement speed boost (during a quest or escort event for example), as Superspeed stacking caps at 10 seconds.

While Function Gyro is used for Superspeed and Quickness, during meta events or when in a smaller group, you can keep it off cooldown and use to revive three downed allies simultaneously!

Big Boomer heals you when you hit a target with an explosion. The barrier is generated via Impact Savant and Blast Shield, the latter also allows your first hit when you get into combat and each hit after a dodge to give you more barrier via Explosive Entrance.

Rocket Charge and Shock Shield are not high damage skills, while Rocket Charge doesn’t find much use at all, Shock Shield is a very strong utility/defensive tool that not only will block attacks, but also generate even more barrier and apply a large amount of Vulnerability.

Unfortunately in the default kit, your only stun break is Bypass Coating and you don’t have access to Stability, so if you’ll ever face opponents with strong Crowd Control, you might want to consider swapping out a few utility skills for more Stability or stun breaks (covered in Alternatives section).

    Runes and Sigils

    Stats

If you struggle with surviving, you might consider switching a few items to Dragon’s or Marauder’s, but first, consider swapping some traits or utility skills to handle the pressure.

    Skills

Generally, Blast Gyro is your weakest skill, but it provides some Crowd Control, Might, Superspeed (and thus Quickness), when needed swap it for other skills, alternatively swap out Grenade Kit if you need Blast Gyro benefits:

    Traits

Alchemy traitline can be a good Explosives alternative if ran with Elixir U, it offers good Vigor uptime via synergy between Superior Rune of the Pack and Invigorating Speed, some healing from Compounding Chemicals and even more Might from Compounding Chemicals.

In condition-heavy encounters, Purity of Purpose creates amazing synergy with Purge Gyro.
