Sic ‘Em Soulbeast is a strong bruiser with great damage and spike as well as decent 1v1 potential. Power Soulbeast also has the dubious distinction of being one of the most reworked and nerfed specs in the game due to its tendency to stomp new players.

Recent reworks to some key traits and skills have allowed Soulbeast to shine with a new  Sword/Warhorn playstyle that dominated in ranked

    Damage

Soulbeast is a modifier-based damage dealer, meaning most of their damage is going to be concentrated in certain spikes. As an example, your longbow burst combines Twice as Vicious (5%), Furious Strength (7%), Vicious Quarry (300 Ferocity), "Sic 'Em!" (25%), Loud Whistle (10%), Hunter's Tactics (10%), and Sigil[s] of Exploitation (5%) for a massive boost to your damage.

Note: "Sic 'Em!" also grants 40% movement speed and is excellent for chasing slow targets.

Mainhand Sword has been reworked for Ranger and now hits extremely hard, both Serpent's Strike and Pounce can crit for up to 10k+ damage on squishy targets; they’re also both mobility skills with leap finishers attached for extra utility. An easy way to use sword is to combo Serpent's Strike onto a disabled target to lock them down with and hit them with Pounce. While it’s not the main recommendation, you can swap in a Sigil[s] of Stagnation on sword to ensure you have when you swap and can land Serpent's Strike.

Your best AOE comes from using Prelude Lash and pulling targets into Maul or Maul . Once you have them CCd, swap to Smokescale[s] and use Worldly Impact for even more AOE cleave.

    Sustain

Soulbeast trades most of its sustain for extra damage but you still have access to some good defensive tools. Bear Stance is an extremely strong healing skill and excellent condi removal. It can be used either defensively for the cleanse or offensively to remove movement-impairing conditions and secure a kill. If you’re struggling into impairing conditions, consider taking Superior Rune[s] of the Revenant for uptime.

For a more sustainable version of this build, see Sic ‘Em Soulbeast, Longbow Variant.

Dolyak Stance is your only stunbreak, but it gives you 6 stacks of and a flat 33% incoming damage reduction (condi and power) . Griffon Stance is a great defensive since it provides a free evade while giving you tons of endurance regeneration for extra dodges and stacking . Your three utility stances are all flexible and can be used offensively or defensively, just be mindful that you aren’t wasting important CDs and overextending or you’ll end up dead.

    Pets

Soulbeast can swap merged pets in combat, so you want to rotate between Smokescale[s]  and Boar[s]while engaged. Make sure you’re swapping regularly to take advantage of Zephyr's Speed and the utility in each pet. Smokescale[s] gives you a smoke field with Smoke Cloud that can be combined with Call of the Wild and Worldly Impact to blast for your team and Pounce, Serpent's Strike, and Swoop for personal uptime.

Tip: Keep track of your Smokescale[s] when not in Beastmode. Smoke Cloud activates on the pet, not on you, so you need to be nearby to get .

Sic ‘Em Soulbeast is a strong bruiser with great ranged damage and spike as well as good 1v1 potential. Power Soulbeast also has the dubious distinction of being one of the most reworked and nerfed specs in the game due to its tendency to stomp new players.

While it is still strong and performs extremely well in certain matchups, Soulbeast is currently hampered by the number of Harbringers and Tempests in the meta, as both classes spam projectile block.

    Damage

Soulbeast is a modifier-based damage dealer, meaning most of their damage is going to be concentrated in certain spikes. As an example, your longbow burst combines Twice as Vicious (5%), Furious Strength (7%), Oppressive Superiority (10%), "Sic 'Em!" (25%), Loud Whistle (10%), Sigil[s] of Separation (5%), and Sigil[s] of Exploitation (5%) for a total of a 67% damage boost on top of your considerable base damage.

In teamfights, your best AOE damage comes from combining Barrage with One Wolf Pack . These two skills together pulse an enormous amount of cleave that can be dropped on a node or on a downed body. You can also cleave in melee with the Maul Worldly Impact combo or with the greatsword auto attack chain. For longtime ranger players, keep in mind that Enduring Swing is no longer an evade.

Try to combine Maul and Worldly Impact to benefit from the 25% damage buff of Moment of Clarity that Maul gives you.

    Sustain

Sic ‘Em Soulbeast has good access to active and passive sustain from the Wilderness Survival traitline and from your Greatsword skills. All of your Survival skills clear conditions and grant you , and you get on every dodge. Natural Vigor gives you a constant 25% endurance regeneration that combines well with your to give you more evasion uptime.

Troll Unguent is one of the best heals in the game, it can be used nearly off cooldown for constant healing and it procs Child of Earth for some passive .

Aside the from obvious source in form of Hunter's Shot, you can by blasting Smoke Cloud with Worldly Impact and leaping through it with Swoop. Use Smoke Cloud if your team doesn’t have a Thief so your team can blast before a team fight.

    Crowd Control

Soulbeast has good single-target Crowd Controls that can be chained together fairly easily. Your Smokescale[s] periodically will use Takedown; this is a great place to start a Crowd Control chain if your opponent doesn’t have a stunbreak. Other CCs include the active Takedown in Beastmode , Point-Blank Shot , and Point-Blank Shot .

You can combo these CCs together easily to keep opponents in your damage. Try to save your strongest CCs like Hilt Bash until you’ve seen several dodges and stunbreaks.

    Pets

Soulbeast no longer has access to pet swapping in combat, so you want to stay in Smokescale[s] while engaged. Out of combat, however, you can swap to Siamoth[s] to use Forage Scale to get Consume Plasma which gives you every boon in the game for a short period of time.
