Kinfall (CM)
To activate Kinfall Challenge Mode, ensure you’ve completed all normal mode achievements and interact with the Challenge Mote before opening the first gate. This mode keeps the core structure of the fractal but ramps up the difficulty significantly, introducing a few new critical mechanics.
As usual, you’ll begin the fractal transformed into Kodan bear forms, but you can revert to your normal appearance using the Fractal Interface Panel.
Vision remains limited, making it crucial for your team to stay closely coordinated. All players begin with the
Basic Mechanics
Frost Wisps
Svanir Groups
You’ll still face mixed groups of ranged and melee Svanir enemies. Be especially mindful of the Frost Wisps during these encounters, as managing both simultaneously can become challenging.
Whispering Shadow (Final Boss)
In CM, the boss fight mechanics are significantly more punishing and introduce new ones.
Cryoflash
Cryoflash in CM will instantly kill players even if you have
- Lofted Cryoflash (Upward): Look for orange circles with red arrows pointing upward. Quickly get into these circles to avoid the damage by jumping upwards.
- Terrestrial Cryoflash (Ground): Marked by orange circles with red crosses. Steer clear of these entirely.
The orange circles always spawn at the same location, making it possible to move before the AoE appears by looking at the boss animations
Hailstorm
The boss periodically casts Hailstorm targeting each player with an AoE, spread out to not overlap these AoEs as it deals more damage with each overlapping AoE
Wintry Orb (Green)
When the boss reaches 80% health, it introduces the Wintry Orb. This places a green circle on a random player, dealing heavy AoE damage, it’s crucial players stack on the green as usual from other encounters to negate the AoE damage.
Focused Spikes
The spike spawning interval is reduced to every 0.5 seconds, putting increased pressure on your team. Either kite the mechanic or use
Achievements
- Undying Light: Complete the fractal in challenge mode without anyone in your group being defeated.
- A full party of five must participate in the fractal with challenge mode enabled from start to finish without dying.
- Shatterstep: Defeat the boss without getting hit by Cryoflash.
- Unceasing Whispers: Complete the Kinfall fractal in Challenge Mode 7 times
