We’ve been away for a little while but we are officially back in action!
To kick things off again we’re bringing a fully open to all, audience powered chaotic event to give Secrets of the Obscure an epic send off before we head into the Janthir Wilds: The Chaos Raiding Open! Our goal with this tournament is to create something a little different, very much towards the ‘for fun’ direction and create a relaxed, fun but competitive environment that everyone feels like they can have a go at! The Chaos Raiding Open kicks off on August 17th at 4PM UTC and will be live on Twitch at twitch.tv/mightyteapot. Get ready to get involved as a viewer too as the destiny of the tournament will be shaped live by viewers who will be able to vote on what builds teams will be allowed to play, and also who deserves to get some fat loot! We’ll be having prizes for our glorious winners of course, but we also have the majority of our prizing dedicated to less conventional achievements such as ‘The most creative team’, ‘Best themed composition’, ‘Best dressed team’ and more; being a tryhard raider is one thing, but competing in those categories is another level!

The first line in supporting any of our events is taking part in them, although being part of the audience is just as important. Show up to cheer for the competing teams and in the meantime, spread the news, get your friends involved and people hyped. You can head over to our links page for a shortcut to all our social media platforms, as well as to our shop and Guild Wars 2 affiliate links. Additionally, you can donate to the in-game prize pool: contact Mightyteapot, Snebzor, or any of our Moderators.
EVENT STRUCTURE & INFO
The core concept behind the Chaos Raiding Open is that the audience will vote to ban three professions in each round, one from each armor weight. The banning process will begin immediately after the 12th team finishes the previous round (scoring after this point stops so all teams can stop playing). Teams will then have 10 minutes to theorycraft their compositions before the race begins! Bans reset every round and the same profession cannot be banned twice in a row! Because there is some built in downtime in this tournament, and it is a little less serious than normal, we will NOT being doing restarts or allowances for disconnects, and if you aren’t ready after the 10 minute countdown then the round will begin without you – be quick on your feet!
CRO will be played using the standard speedrun.com glitchless ruleset for Guild Wars 2 Raids.
The Chaos Raiding Open will include wings 1-7 with NO challenge modes enabled. Each wing will be completed by all participating teams simultaneously. The first four rounds will be seeding rounds where no teams will be eliminated, after these rounds the top 8 teams will then move on to the elimination rounds where two teams will be eliminated per round until the final four teams remain. The final four teams will then go head to head to find the champions!
The raid wings in question will be randomly rolled at the start of the event so teams can plan ahead immediately and will NOT repeat throughout the entire event.
SEEDING ROUNDS: All teams will complete the first four raid wings and score points per wing as described below in the scoring system. The top 8 teams by total points will move to the semi-final rounds.
ELIMINATION ROUNDS: The qualifying teams will complete the remaining 3 raid wings. The slowest two teams to complete each wing will be eliminated. The final round will include 4 teams and the team who finishes first wins the tournament.
*if more than 8 teams move to the final elimination rounds (see tiebreakers below) more than two teams will be eliminated per wing. Final decision will be made live on stream.

HOW TO ENTER
Registration will close 3 days (August 14th) before tournament start time. A minimum of 12 teams are required for this tournament to receive special prizing (title & gems). We will run the tournament with a minimum of 8 teams, but special prizing may not be available.
This tournament is a complete free for all, your rating will not be affected and anyone can sign up and make a team!
Entering Hardstuck events is incredibly easy with our sign-up tool; you can thank our basement-bound developers for that! Now you can register directly on each event’s page —in this case, here. You must have a Hardstuck account for this to work. Only one member has to fill out the form for the whole team and everyone on the team will have to give this “leader” their Guild Wars 2 API token. Upon submitting your team’s keys, our tool will calculate your rating; more on rating requirements below. If you have any problems signing up, you can contact our Moderators on Discord.
We reserve the right to ban players who do not meet the spirit of this competition.
We cannot guarantee ArenaNet prizing for more than 12 players on a team. If you team consists of more than 12 players, all players (except 2 substitutes) are required to participate in the tournament and have semi-equal playing time. Signing extra players up who will not participate in order to circumnavigate the team rating average is considered abuse and will result in the immediate disqualification of the team and possible bans.
STREAMING REQUIREMENTS
- At least one player from each team must be streaming and provide us with the Twitch link prior to the event, so it can potentially be showcased. The quality of the stream must be set to a minimum of 720p, preferably 1080p. The team name must be displayed on stream and team logos are welcome to be showcased. A Guild Wars 2 in-game chat window showing the Hardstuck competitive guild chat is required to be visible on the stream. Twitch VODs must be enabled.
- A team leader must (temporarily) be in the Hardstuck Competitive guild. Guild chat will be used for a countdown and to signal teams to start by saying “GO!”.
- Team members must play on the account they signed up with. Team members must have included their account API key. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification.
- Logs must be available for checking.
